East Colorado Springs real estate is located between the Monument Valley Highway on the west and North Academy Boulevard on the east, and between Austin Bluffs Parkway to the north and East Platte Avenue to the south. The southwestern corner of east Colorado Springs borders the downtown area of Colorado Springs.

Shopping and Dining

Shopping options available to residents of east Colorado Springs real estate include a Walmart Supercenter on East Platte and a Sam’s Club on South Academy Boulevard. The Chapel Hills Mall features over 150 stores including Macy’s, Build-a-Bear, Dillards and more. 

Uwe’s German Restaurant, Roman Villa, and Caspian Cafe are just a few of the fine dining possibilities located in and around east Colorado Spring real estate. The nearby Powers Corridor also offers great outdoor shopping and several restaurants and entertainment options, including Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Lobster and Red Robin.


Parks and Recreation

The neighborhood of East Colorado Springs is dotted with several beautiful parks, such as Palmer Park, and Memorial Park to the South. Towards the western side of East Colorado Springs, the Patty Jewett Municipal Golf Course and the Colorado Springs Country Club provide recreational opportunities to resident golfers, and CityROCK on North Nevada Avenue provides visitors with rock climbing opportunities. Pulpit Rock Park trail in the Austin Bluffs Open Space area is dog friendly, open year-round and great for all skill levels.

The YMCA on North Nevada Avenue, as well as Crossfit, Fit Body and Pole, and Core Power Yoga all offer fitness facilities to help residents of East Colorado Springs real estate stay in shape. When desiring to get out of town, area residents can head to Castlewood Canyon State Park and Lake Pueblo State Park for outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, sightseeing, and fishing.


Living

Colorado Springs has attracted many new residents in recent years. As of 2011, the population of Colorado Springs had risen by 16.3%, and the cost of living in the city is about on par with the national average.

Colorado Springs Palmer Park

Housing prices in Colorado Springs tend to be slightly lower than housing prices in the state of Colorado overall, and the population rises by 5.8% each day as workers commute in from outside the city. Denver and Phoenix are the nearest cities with a population of over 1 million, and Colorado Springs is occasionally referred to as “The Springs.”


School, Health, and Transportation

Educational resources available to residents of East Colorado Springs include District 11 schools:  Stratton Elementary School on Paseo Road, Columbia Elementary School on East Saint Vrain Street, and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and the University of the Rockies. A newer addition to the area includes the Thomas MacLaren Charter School. Additionally, Penrose Public Library is located on North Cascade Avenue. 

Health care institutions located in and around east Colorado Springs include Memorial Hospital Central, Penrose Community Urgent Care, and Penrose-St. Francis Health Services.

Transportation throughout Colorado Springs is provided by Mountain Metropolitan Transit. In addition, there is an Amtrak station on South Weber Street that can connect Colorado Springs with neighboring cities, and the Colorado Springs Airport on Milton E. Proby Parkway.
